'Tis The Season - Trends for Christmas Décor 2021

After such a difficult year where we have been forced to keep distance from our loved ones in the midst of a pandemic & looking forward to the possibility of being able to gather again with a small group of those we love, I believe, has made people even more excited than usual for this holiday season.

At iDESIGN we are no different!  We have been busy decking our halls as well as helping others deck theirs!  Since seasonal décor is in full swing we wanted to share some ideas on how to be on-trend for Christmas 2021.

While there are different trends out there, we are going to focus on our personal favorite which is all about natural elements!  This year more than most, has taught us to appreciate the simpler things in life & we wanted our holiday collection to reflect that.

TREND 1

Not to overstate the obvious here, but real or real-look garland or drops have been huge this year & are perfect if you are trying to achieve a natural look this season.  We brought in several fresh touch products one of the fan favorites were these cedar drops that we used to decorate our mantel!  These flew out of the store as quickly as they came in!  However, we have some really gorgeous ones still on the way!

TREND 2 - Wood Beads

Whether it be wood bead garland or ornaments we are seeing this major trend transition from everyday coffee table décor to Holiday.  We have used several styles of wood bead garlands & ornaments on our tree this year & can't get over the simplified beauty of them!

TREND 3 - Nostalgia

Again because this year has really taught us to appreciate what matters most, a growing trend is décor that reminds us of Christmas's past, whether it be vintage inspired ornaments or something more personal.  For me I have made decorations with my kids that I used to make with my grandma when I was little.  For as long as I can remember my grandma every year would make with us salt dough ornaments.  This is something I have not done since she has passed, but this year I decided it would be amazing to introduce this old tradition to my kids.  We put a bit of a modern spin on these decorations, inspired by ohohdeco.com & they have turned out so great!  The kids loved it & I am sure my grandma would be proud!

TREND 4 - Linens

Whether it be soft linen stockings like the ones we brought into the storefront, aprons, tea towels or printed banner wall hangings or holiday tea towels, seasonal linens sprinkled around the house is a sure way to inject a feeling of the season to every room of your house in a subtle & natural way!

TREND 5 - Outdoor Themed Table Top Décor

Of course when sticking with a natural theme for your Christmas décor it only makes sense to incorporate table top décor that mimics objects that you find in nature, like Christmas trees, pine cones etc.

One of our storefront favorites are our bottle brush Christmas trees!  They are an outdoor item done in a modern way & they elevate our natural look by injecting a little feeling of lux to the space!

Also worth a mention is the smell of the Christmas season, whether it be through your favorite seasonal candle or potpourri with hints of cinnamon or spruce injecting the smell of the season that brings you all the holiday feels is a great way to add comfort & joy into your space.  At the storefront we carry a selection of local coal & canary candles tailored to the season with a cracking wood wick for that extra layer of ambiance.  We also love our potpourri blend that makes the room smell like a perfectly fresh cut Christmas tree!

However, you decide to decorate & celebrate the season, we wish you all a merry Christmas & a Happy New Year!
